According to the "Cooperation Agreement on the Accelerated Construction of Inter-provincial Transportation Infrastructure in the Yangtze River Delta Region (2022-2025)", a total of 66 projects, including 20 inter-provincial railways, 16 inter-provincial highways, 21 inter-provincial ordinary roads, and 9 inter-provincial waterway projects, will be jointly implemented in the next four years. The planned total investment for multi-layered rail transportation in the Yangtze River Delta region amounts to 1.36 trillion yuan.
In 2022, eight inter-provincial railways involving the three provinces and one municipality in the Yangtze River Delta region will commence construction, either fully or in sections, with a total investment of approximately 350 billion yuan.
Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu Yangtze River High-speed Rail (Shanghai to Hefei Section)
This year, six sections of the new Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-speed Rail (also known as the "Northern Yangtze River High-speed Rail") will begin construction. The feasibility study report for the new Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei High-speed Rail has been officially approved by the National Development and Reform Commission, and construction is imminent. The project connects Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Anhui, spanning 519.126 km and estimated to cost 173.73 billion yuan.
Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo High-speed Rail
The Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo High-speed Rail (Tongsu-Jiangning-Congming High-speed Rail) has completed most of its preliminary work. The estimated total investment is about 107 billion yuan, with a new line length of about 300 km.
Yangzhou-Zhenjiang-Nanjing-Ma'anshan Railway (Zhenjiang to Ma'anshan Section)
The Zhenjiang-Ma'anshan section of the Yangzhou-Zhenjiang-Nanjing-Ma'anshan Railway is expected to begin construction in December this year. The total investment is estimated to be about 24 billion yuan, with a total length of 121 km.
Ningwu Railway Capacity Expansion Project
The Ningwu Railway Capacity Expansion Project partially began construction at the end of last year and is expected to commence fully in 2022. The estimated total investment is 9.86 billion yuan, with a construction period of 4.5 years.
Yancheng-Taizhou-Wuxi-Changzhou-Yixing-Huzhou Railway (Jiangsu Section)
The feasibility study report for the Jiangyin-Huishan section of the Yancheng-Taizhou-Wuxi-Changzhou-Yixing-Huzhou Railway has been approved. The estimated investment for this section is 10.926 billion yuan, with a construction period of six years.
Suqian-Hefei Railway (Jiangsu Section)
The Suqian-Hefei High-speed Railway (Jiangsu Section) includes two parts, both of which are in the process of accelerating preliminary work. The design speed target is 350 km/h.
Shanghai-Zhapu-Hangzhou Railway (Zhejiang Section)
The Shanghai-Zhapu-Hangzhou Railway has been officially listed as a 2022 construction project. The total investment is 12 billion yuan, with a design speed of 350 km/h.
Shanghai Demonstration Area Line and Jiashan-Xitang Line of the Hu-Su-Jia Line
The Shanghai Demonstration Area Line has completed public consultation on its route planning and is expected to begin construction in the first half of this year. The total investment is 9.01 billion yuan.
